Elementary Teacher

Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP) is a tuition-free, public charter school in Somerset, New Jersey serving grades Kindergarten through 12th. CJCP is a recipient of many awards and designations such as: USDOE Blue Ribbon Award, 2016 NJDOE Tier-I Charter School, 2013-2018 US News Best High Schools, 2015 - 2024 National Charter School, 2020 College Board AP Honor Roll, 2023 - 2024 College Board AP Capstone School, 2020 - 2024 Great Schools College Success Award, 2020-2022 100% graduation rate, 2011- 2025 100% acceptance rate into four-year colleges and universities since 2011.

Hiring for School Year 2026-2027

Elementary Teacher Responsibilities Include:

• Create a nurturing and effective learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of young students.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with New Jersey learning standards.
• Cater to diverse learning styles, ensuring all students acquire foundational skill in subjects such as mathematics, reading, writing, science, and social studies
• Regularly assess student progress through various methods such as assignments, tests, and observations, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians while fostering a positive and structured learning environment.
• Establish and maintain a disciplined classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and active learning.
• Work closely with fellow teachers, support staff, and administrators to enhance instructional practices and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
• Engage in ongoing professional growth opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and curriculum developments.

Essential Duties:

• Communicates responsibly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and school leadership
• Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
• Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures
• Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities

Additional Responsibilities:

• Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
• Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communication
• Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction
• Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Proven communication and instructional strategies
• Classroom management skills
• Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
• Excellent organizational skills

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid NJ CE, CEAS, or Standard Teacher Certification
• NJ Criminal History
• Work authorization in the U.S.
• Tuberculosis Test
• Experience is a plus
